Integrations & connected apps

How Daybreak connects across the web app, mobile, and the Focus browser extension. What syncs, when, and how to troubleshoot.

Quick answer

Sign in to the same account on every device — web app, mobile app, and Focus extension — and everything syncs automatically. Recovery data syncs in seconds; configuration changes propagate within a minute.

Daybreak is a small ecosystem: a dashboard, a mobile app, and a browser extension. They're not separate products; they're views into the same account.

What runs where

SurfacePlatformWhat it does
Web dashboardAny modern browserCheck-ins, journal, Dawn, recovery plans, settings
Mobile appiOS 16+, Android 10+Check-ins, journal, Dawn (push notifications)
Focus extensionChrome, Edge, SafariContent blocking, focus modes, custom block lists
Time VaultWeb + mobileSchedule-locked content access

You can use any subset of these. The dashboard is the floor — every account works from there. The mobile app and extension are complementary surfaces.

How sync works

All data flows through your Daybreak account.

Recovery data

Check-ins, journal entries, Dawn conversations, and recovery plans sync in real time through the API. A check-in submitted on your phone shows up on the web dashboard within seconds.

Focus extension data

Block lists, focus modes, and Time Vault schedules sync between browsers within about a minute. The extension polls the API on a short interval and pushes local changes immediately.

The extension does not send your browsing history to our servers. Block-list matching happens locally; only the configuration syncs.

Notification preferences

Sync immediately. Turning on push reminders on the web dashboard takes effect on your phone the next time the app refreshes its session (usually within a minute).

Setup per surface

Web dashboard

Focus extension

See Browser extension setup for the full flow.

Connection status

Settings → Devices shows everything connected to your account:

  • Device name and type
  • Last sync time
  • Connection status (active / idle / offline)
  • Sign-out button — signs out that specific device remotely

Use the remote sign-out if you ever lose a device or want to disconnect a public computer.

Troubleshooting sync

If data isn't appearing across devices:

  1. Check internet. On the affected device.
  2. Verify same account. Open Settings on each device; confirm the email matches.
  3. Force a refresh. Pull-to-refresh on mobile, hard reload on web (Ctrl+Shift+R / Cmd+Shift+R).
  4. Check device status. Settings → Devices on the dashboard.
  5. Sign out and back in on the affected device. This is the universal fix; clears any stale tokens.

If sync is still broken after that, submit a ticket with the affected devices and rough timing of when sync stopped working.

Common pitfalls

Different accounts on different devices

By far the most common cause of "missing data". Open Settings on each device — if the email differs, you've created two accounts and your data is split. Email [email protected] to merge them.

Battery optimizers killing the mobile app

Some Android skins kill background apps aggressively. Add the Daybreak app to your battery exception list. iOS handles this automatically.

Next steps

  • Multi-device sync — extension-specific setup for using Focus across multiple browsers.
  • Common issues — broader troubleshooting if sync is one symptom of something larger.
