Getting started

Browser extension setup

Install the Daybreak Focus extension on Chrome, Edge, or Safari and connect it to your account.

Quick answer

Install Daybreak Focus from the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, or Safari Extensions. Pin the icon to your toolbar, sign in, and your default block list syncs automatically.

The Focus extension is a free download. It runs locally — your browsing data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable analytics.

Before you start

  • A Chrome, Edge, or Safari browser.
  • A Daybreak account (you can create one inside the extension if you haven't yet).

Step-by-step

Find the extension in your browser's store

  • Chrome: Chrome Web Store → search "Daybreak Focus".
  • Edge: Edge Add-ons → search "Daybreak Focus".
  • Safari: Open Safari → Settings → Extensions and find Daybreak Focus in the list.

Install it

Click Add to Chrome / Get / Enable (depending on browser) and confirm the permission prompt. Permissions are scoped to what's needed for blocking — see extension privacy for the full breakdown.

Pin it to your toolbar

Chrome and Edge hide new extensions behind the puzzle-piece icon. Click that icon, find Daybreak Focus, and click the pin so the icon sits in your toolbar.

Tip

Visible icon = visible accountability. People who unpin the extension are noticeably more likely to disable it during a tough moment.

Click the Daybreak icon and sign in with your account. Your focus modes, block lists, and custom keywords sync automatically.

Confirm it's working

Try visiting a site on your default block list. You should see the Daybreak block screen. If the page loads normally, see Common pitfalls below.

What happens once it's running

  • Blocking kicks in immediately based on your active focus mode.
  • Safe search is enforced on Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo if enabled in settings.
  • Sync keeps your block list and focus modes consistent across every browser you sign in to.

Common pitfalls

The icon doesn't appear after install

Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser toolbar — Chrome hides new extensions there by default. Find Daybreak Focus and click the pin.

Blocked sites still load

Most often this is a stale page. Reload (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R) and try again. If it still loads, check that your active focus mode actually has the site in its block list — open the extension and switch modes to confirm.

The sign-in popup keeps disappearing

Disable popup blockers for app.daybreakpath.com, or sign in via the dashboard first and let the extension pick up your session.
