Browser extension
Multi-device sync
Connect Daybreak Focus on multiple browsers and devices, view all instances, set per-device modes.
Quick answer
Each browser running Daybreak Focus is a "browser instance" tied to your account. Multiple instances stay in sync automatically.
What syncs
When you sign in on a second (or third, or tenth) browser, the extension pulls down:
- Active focus mode.
- All mode configurations and rules.
- Custom keywords and block lists.
- Global content-filter settings (NSFW, safe search, etc.).
Changes made on any device propagate to the others within about a minute.
What does NOT sync
- Browsing activity (it's never sent to our servers).
- Tracking pause state (that's per-device by design — pausing on your work laptop shouldn't pause on your phone).
- Per-device focus mode assignment (set deliberately per device on the Instances page).
View your instances
Open the Instances page
Daybreak Focus dashboard at app.daybreakpath.com.
See each connected browser
A card per device showing browser type, OS, online/offline status, extension version, last seen time, today's block count and tracked browsing time, and the currently active focus mode.
Expand for details
Click any card to see per-device settings and the option to change the active mode.
Set per-device modes
Different contexts deserve different blocking:
- Work laptop: "Deep Work" mode (strict, blocks social).
- Personal desktop: "Evening" mode (NSFW + safe search only).
- Shared computer: "Full Focus" (max restrictions).
To set a device's mode:
Open Instances page
See above.
Expand the device's card
Click anywhere on the card.
Pick a mode from the dropdown
Change takes effect within a minute on the device.
Sync manually
If you've made a configuration change and want to confirm propagation rather than waiting:
Open Instances page
Same as above.
Click 'Sync all' at the top
All connected instances pull the latest settings within seconds.
Remove an instance
When you stop using a device or have an old install:
Open Instances page
Find the device.
Click the menu (•••) on its card
Select Remove instance.
Confirm
The instance is unlinked from your account immediately. If the extension is still installed on that device, it will prompt to sign in again.
Common pitfalls
Instance shows offline
The browser is closed or the extension is disabled. Open the browser, confirm the extension icon is in the toolbar, and the status updates within a minute.
Settings change not propagating
Click Sync all on the Instances page. If that doesn't fix it, sign out and back in on the affected device. Stale auth tokens are usually the cause.
Duplicate instances after reinstalling
Reinstalls can create a new instance entry. Remove the old offline one from the Instances page; the active one stays.
Common pitfalls (continued)
Version mismatch warnings
Update the extension on every browser. Updates usually
auto-install in Chrome/Edge but can lag in Safari. Check
chrome://extensions (or browser equivalent) for the version.
