Browser extension

Install Daybreak Focus

Install the Focus browser extension on Chrome, Edge, or Safari and connect it to your account.

Quick answer

Search "Daybreak Focus" in the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, or Safari Extensions. Add to browser, pin to toolbar, sign in. Default block list syncs from your account immediately.

The extension is free, lightweight, and runs locally — your browsing history is never sent to our servers. The only thing that syncs is your block-list configuration.

Before you start

  • Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, or Safari.
  • A Daybreak account (you can create one inside the extension if needed).

Step-by-step

Find Daybreak Focus in your browser's store

  • Chrome: Chrome Web Store → search "Daybreak Focus".
  • Edge: Edge Add-ons → search "Daybreak Focus".
  • Brave / Opera: install from the Chrome Web Store; both browsers support Chrome extensions.
  • Safari: open Safari → Settings → Extensions and find Daybreak Focus in the list.

Install

Click Add to browser (Chrome / Edge / Brave / Opera) or Enable (Safari). Confirm the permission prompt — see Permissions below for what each is for.

Pin to your toolbar

Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser toolbar, find Daybreak Focus, click the pin. Pinning matters more than you'd think — visible icon = visible accountability.

Click the icon and sign in with your Daybreak account. If you don't have one yet, the popup includes a sign-up link — free, takes 60 seconds.

Confirm it's running

Try visiting a site on your default block list (e.g. an explicit site if you've enabled NSFW blocking). You should see the Daybreak block screen. If the page loads normally, see Troubleshooting.

Permissions

When installing, your browser asks for:

  • Read your browsing history — needed to know which site you're on so blocking can fire. Browsing history is processed locally in the extension; it never leaves your device.
  • Modify pages on websites you visit — needed to render the block screen and to apply image blur for filtered content.
  • Storage — needed to cache your block-list configuration locally for fast page-load matching.

These are the minimum permissions the extension needs to function. There is no microphone, camera, downloads, geolocation, or other sensitive permission.

What syncs

Once you sign in, the extension pulls your account's:

  • Active focus mode.
  • Mode configurations and rules.
  • Custom keywords and block lists.
  • Global settings (NSFW, safe search, etc.).

Anything you change in one browser propagates to your other signed-in browsers within about a minute.

What does NOT sync

The extension does not send your browsing activity, page contents, form inputs, or downloads to our servers. See Extension privacy for the full data-handling explainer.

Common pitfalls

Icon doesn't appear in the toolbar

Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser toolbar. Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Opera all hide new extensions there by default. Find Daybreak Focus and click the pin to make it visible.

Sign-in popup keeps closing

Disable popup blockers for app.daybreakpath.com, or sign in to the dashboard first in another tab and let the extension pick up your session.
